Jamie Foxxand Dave Franco star in the vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie tells the story of a blue collar dad trying to provide a better life for his young daughter. However, his routine job in San Fernando Valley pool cleaning is a disguise for his true income, hunting down and killing vampires as part of an International Union of Viper Hunters.
The premise sounds interesting, but can J.J. Perry deliver the goods?
Jamie Foxx shoots at an old lady who turns up to be a vamp in the opening scene of Day Shift. This leads to a hilarious fight between the two of them. This movie has a great deal of fun with rag-doll action scenes. It makes those scenes pop in a different way than many of the action blockbusters or Netflix movies. When you watch a scene like this, it is easy to remember the old saying "action speaks louder that words", and while I agree with the statement, I think the key to "Day Shift's" success is the way it uses dialogue and action to develop the characters and further the plot. Jamie Foxx's character kills the vampire. He then has a funny, dry conversation with his partner about how he believed she would become a bat or other animal. Moments like these are what elevate "Day Shift," above similar movies.
Day Shift may be the worst movie ever made. It is obvious what they wanted to do but they failed so badly. It is lacking in acting ability, dialogue, and plot. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. It could be that I Day Shift (2022) am a sucker of vampire movies, or it could just be that I love watching bad movies. Day Shift was fun. It's not a great movie, but it's a lot of fun. That's really all I want from a movie such as this.
Day Shift had mixed reviews. The movie has a lot to offer, including some action scenes that are fun and some characters like the two brothers and Seth. But the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. That helps the stronger characters shine more. There were scenes missing that were not shown. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was hilarious and I enjoyed watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. There are parts that are fantastic and others that are horrible. But if you're looking for a few laughs, you could do worse than this movie.
I almost forgot about Snoop Dogg. He's an amazing character in Day Shift. He makes the movie worthwhile. His comedy is great and he's funny. He is so natural in this role. It's as if he was made for the role.
